Al Khazneh Al Faroun (Treasury Palace - PETRA)

It is so beautiful and so crazy that it seems fake, but it is one of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World: Petra is a famous archaeological site in the southwestern desert of Jordan, curiously unknown to the Western world until 1812, when it was rediscovered by a Swiss explorer.

Dating back to 300 BC, it was the capital of the Nabataean Kingdom (a people of warriors and traders) and is accessible via a narrow gorge called Al Siq, which leads to dozens of Assyrian-style houses, tombs and temples carved directly into the rocky walls of the mountains, specifically into the pink sandstone, from which it derives its name "Pink City".

The historical importance of this site is such that, in 1985, it was officially declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Its most famous and imposing structure is undoubtedly Al Khazneh Al Faroun, a 45-metre-high temple with a Greek-style decorated façade, known as the Pharaoh's Treasury (or Treasury Palace).

Corinthian columns, majestic height and perfect symmetry, all carved into the pink wall of the mountain, automatically determined its fame, making it the official representative of the entire city of Petra (and cinema also played a part, considering that the monument was the set for the memorable final scenes in the movie "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade").

As a fan of the Lego Architecture series, I have tried – as far as possible – to respect the shapes and proportions of this wonderful building, hoping to have captured as many details as possible and hoping to elicit at least a few wows of amazement.

The model is 22.2 cm wide, 11.2 cm deep and 24 cm high, therefore in line with the standard measurements of the Lego Architecture series (= not excessively large).

I am counting on your support for this project: it would be a dream come true to see it alongside the official sets in the Lego Architecture series.
