Da dove vieni e cosa hai studiato?
Attualmente vivo ad Arlington, in Texas, con la mia adorabile moglie Scarlet e i nostri tre cani. All'università ho studiato informatica e storia, ma alla fine ho conseguito una laurea in comunicazione
Cosa fai, di cosa ti occupi?
Lavoro come ingegnere del software, creando applicazioni per un'azienda di telecomunicazioni internazionale
Cosa ti ispirato a diventare un costruttore Lego?
Costruisco con i LEGO da quando avevo cinque anni, ma ho iniziato a creare regolarmente quando mia moglie ha cominciato a collezionare set e a progettare una città personalizzata. Ora è un hobby che amiamo entrambi
Qual è la tua opera LEGO preferita tra quelle che hai costruito finora?
Traggo ispirazione dalla fotografia, dall'arte e dalla musica, ma mi piace mettermi alla prova con cose nuove. L'anno scorso ho creato il mio primo personaggio di grandi dimensioni e quest'estate ho iniziato a progettare modelli di animali per una nuova sfida
Qual è la tua opera LEGO preferita tra quelle che hai costruito finora?
Non ho preferenze perché ogni progetto ha il suo valore intrinseco, un po' come paragonare una commedia a un western o a un film d'animazione. I miei interessi cambiano continuamente, passando dagli edifici modulari ai personaggi e ai diorami, quindi la mia costruzione preferita è sempre la prossima
Qual è stata la sfida più complessa che hai affrontato come costruttore LEGO?
La sfida più complessa fino ad ora è stata creare le squame di serpente per la mia figura di Medusa utilizzando piastre dentellate 1x1 (codice 49668) sovrapposte. Questo ha richiesto di staccare molti mattoncini mantenendoli comunque collegati e non sarebbe stato possibile senza alcune delle nuove piastre con estremità arrotondate
Hai una tecnica preferita o un metodo particolare che utilizzi nelle tue costruzioni?
Non mi attengo a un solo metodo e mi piace sperimentare qualcosa di nuovo con ogni creazione. Sono affascinato da quanto lontano possa spingersi il design con i mattoncini e adoro imparare dalle tecniche degli altri
Quali temi o soggetti ti piace esplorare di più nelle tue creazioni?
Nell'ultimo anno ho esplorato le mitologie del mondo. Tutto è iniziato con il mio Set delle Stagioni, in cui ogni figura rappresenta una dea o un personaggio mitologico legato alle stagioni, come Oya ed Ēostre
Qual è il progetto più grande o più ambizioso che tu abbia mai realizzato?
La mia creazione più ambiziosa fino ad oggi è la Tana di Medusa. La definisco la MOC che mi è sfuggita di mano. È iniziata in modo abbastanza semplice come una rappresentazione di Medusa, ma si è trasformata in un diorama completo con diversi personaggi e uno sfondo con un intero tempio. Con oltre 14.500 pezzi, è di gran lunga il mio modello più grande
Quale consiglio daresti a chi vuole diventare un esperto costruttore LEGO?
Tutto ciò che si costruisce con i mattoncini LEGO può essere ricostruito: ingrandiscilo, rimpiccioliscilo, aggiungigli le gambe per farlo camminare. Non aver mai paura di metterti alla prova e provare qualcosa di nuovo. E, soprattutto, non porre mai limiti alla tua immaginazione
Where are you from and what did you study?
I currently live in Arlington, Texas with my lovely wife Scarlet and our three dogs. In college, I studied computer sciences and history but eventually earned a degree in communications
What do you do, what job do you do now?
I work as a software engineer creating applications for an international communication company
What inspired you to become a LEGO builder?
I've built with LEGO since I was five, but I started creating regularly when my wife began collecting sets and designing a custom town. Now, it's a hobby we both love
Where do you get inspiration for your creations?
I draw inspiration from photography, art, and music, but I love challenging myself with new things. Last year, I built my first big character, and this summer, I started designing animal models for a fresh challenge
What is your favorite LEGO work that you have built so far?
I don't pick favorites because each project has its own value, like comparing a comedy to a western or animation. My interests shift constantly from modular buildings to characters and dioramas, so my favorite build is always the next one
What has been the most complex challenge you have faced as a LEGO builder?
The most complex challenge to date was to create snake scales for my Medusa figure by using 1x1 tooth plates (part 49668) layered over each other. This required lots of bricks to be turned off while still remaining connected and wouldn't be possible without some of the new rounded ended plates
Do you have a favorite technique or a special method that you use in your constructions?
I don't stick to one method; I like trying something new with each creation. I'm fascinated by how far brick design can go and love learning from others' techniques
What themes or subjects do you like to explore the most in your creations?
I've been exploring world mythologies for the past year. It began with my Seasons Set, where each figure represents a goddess or mythical character tied to the seasons, like Oya and Ēostre
What is the largest or most ambitious project you have ever made?
My most ambitious creation to date is Medusa's Lair. I refer to it as the MOC that got out of hand.It started simply enough as a rendering of Medusa but exploded to a full diorama with multiple characters and a temple backdrop. At over 14500 parts, it is by far my largest model
What advice would you give to someone who wants to become an expert LEGO builder?
Everything that is built with LEGO pieces can be rebuilt: do it bigger, do it smaller, give it legs so you can walk.Never be afraid to challenge yourself and try something new.And, above all, never limit your imagination
